Addressing the press conference held to announce the new programming schedule, Ali Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Head of Dubai TV said, “As part of our commitment to our viewers in the Arab world, and in recognition of the increasing demand for quality family entertainment, Dubai TV has introduced the new programming schedule to ensure that we exceed our viewers’ expectations.”

Al Rumaithi added, “Through a host of new programmes the Dubai TV audiences will continue to receive quality contents with the latest in family entertainment.”

The highlights of the programming schedule include the new season of the hit show ‘Najm Al Khaleej season 2,’ the launch of new Egyptian productions called ‘Ahlam Al Banat,’ and ‘Ashrar wa Tayiboon,’ both are prime time series produced by and exclusively for Dubai TV alongside a Kuwaiti drama series with its title soon to be released. These new additions to Dubai TV’s 2006 schedule amongst others are to satisfy the demand of its Arab audience, both local and regional. After its unmatched success in its first season, ‘Najm Al Khaleej 2’ appears again in a more stimulating format. The prime time entertainment show has been adapted from the original American format, ‘Nashville’ yet also drawing parallels with the venerated American and British Pop Idol shows. The winner of ‘Najm Al Khaleej 2’ will collect AED 500,000, together with one Album and one video clip deal.

Moreover, the 2006 programming schedule demonstrates a notable improvement in its news broadcasts. Another popular show which has been revamped is ‘Al-Kalima WA Akhawatuha’ presented by Sheikh Al Kubaisi. Furthermore, the weekly show ‘Wujuh Arabiya’ featuring the viewpoints of different Arabic personalities will air every Friday at 2pm (UAE time) with a marked enrichment. Dubai TV’s completed overhaul is exhibited with a new look and enhanced content for all the aforementioned programmes.

Al Rumaithi said, “The new programming schedule comes under Dubai TV’s strategy to work on developing its programmes in accordance with viewer’s preferences by providing what’s new and modern, applying the latest international technology but preserving the Arab culture”.
