  THIS WEEK IN TENNIS
  2/27/2006 12:47:39 PM

Dubai: Six of the top 10 will be there if Andre Agassi is fit enough to play. No. 1 Roger Federer and No. 2 Rafael Nadal are in with Andy Roddick and Ivan Ljubicic, who might be the third-best player on tour right now. It's a $1 million, 32-draw event. Marat Safin could return from injury, but would have to play countryman Nikolay Davydenko in the first round. Federer has won the tournament the past three years. Hardcourt.

Las Vegas: This $380,000 tournament is in its first year, having moved from Scottsdale, Ariz. It's Agassi's hometown, but they couldn't land him for this 32-draw. Lleyton Hewitt is seeded first with Nicolas Kiefer No. 2. Mardy Fish of Tampa continues his comeback from wrist surgery against a qualifier in the first round. Hardcourt.

ACAPULCO, MEXICO: Guillermo Coria and several other baseliners are in this $690,000 red clay event. It's not good preparation for Indian Wells/Key Biscayne, but the money's good and the points are plentiful.

SONY ERICSSON WTA TOUR

Qatar: Amelie Mauresmo, the hottest player on tour, leads a solid field into this 32-draw, $600,000 tournament. Also on the entry list: Nadia Petrova and Svetlana Kuznetsova, who upset Mauresmo last week. Jill Craybas is the lone American in the draw. Hardcourt.

Acapulco: Played concurrently with the men. It's a 32-draw on red clay with $182,000 in total prize money. Minor event with second- and third-line players. The best players are either at Qatar or taking a week off to rest for the successive big-money events at Indian Wells and Key Biscayne.
