Largest private sector infrastructure contract awarded by Dubai
Sports City and Victory Heights
Wade Adams Contracting LLC receives
AED 400 million infrastructure contract for Dubai Sports City and
Victory Heights construction.
Dubai Sports City, the world's first
purpose-built, integrated city themed on sports and a cornerstone
project of DubaiLand, today announced it has awarded Wade Adams
Contracting a contract worth more than AED 400 million to build
the infrastructure for the 50 million square feet Dubai Sports City
project which includes Victory Heights, a private residential gated
golf community.
The contract is one of the single largest
private sector infrastructure contracts to be awarded for a local
development in the Emirates and reflects the huge commitment of
the Dubai Sports City investors to the vision of the Dubai Ruler,
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to position
Dubai as a global sporting, leisure and tourism hub.
The contract covers the installation
across the Dubai Sports City and Victory Heights projects of 50
kilometres of roads, 70.5 kilometres of portable water piping, 120
kilometres of telecommunications multiple ducts, 54 kilometres of
sewerage mains, 29 kilometres of storm water drainage, 87 kilometres
of electrical cable and 41.5 kilometres of irrigation ducts.
During the period of the contract which
is due to commence in the next ten days over 1500 workers will be
on site.
Upon signing the contract, Khalid Al
Zarooni, President of Dubai Sports City, said: 'This is a significant
contract, one of the largest ever-awarded by a private sector company
in this economy, which reflects the magnitude and scope of the Dubai
Sports City development. We appointed Wade Adams as the key contractor
