SINGAPORE — Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, a holding firm that plans to offer aviation services ranging from aircraft leasing to airport operations, hopes to win its first contracts to run airports in India, Asia’s third-biggest economy, this year.
The state-backed company, which on Sunday launched its entry into the aerospace industry equipped with $15 billion in funds for investments, is the tiny Gulf emirate’s latest megaproject and is aimed at the booming aviation markets of Asia and the Middle East.
“We are in talks with some of the Indian states and we could reach a deal this year. We are optimistic,” Managing Director Mohammed Al Zarouni told Reuters in an interview at the Asian Aerospace air show in Singapore yesterday.
He said China also offered huge potential, with more than 200 airports expected to be developed in the coming years.
