Dubai Education Council (DEC) was established under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The decision behind the Dubai Education Councilwas aimed to:
Enhance the education sector in Dubai at all levels to bring it up to international standards while maintaining cultural & social values
Further develop the educational institutions in order to create a knowledge based society

In order to achieve its vision the council is entrusted to achieve the following:
Develop educational standards for different educational sectors benchmarked against global best practices
Encourage educational institutions to actively participate in society development
Introduce educational initiatives that enhances and supports quality education
Cascade the importance of continuous development and standardization of quality education amongst all stakeholders
Extend support and cooperation to the Ministry of Education and all parties concerned with educational development
Recommend to the Dubai Executive Council proposals and initiatives pertaining to achieving DEC's vision
As part of its action plan, Dubai Education Council (DEC) seeks to raise the quality of Dubai's education sector to meet global standards. While developing standards, the DEC also seeks to preserve local traditions, principles and cultural identity of the UAE. In line with this, DEC is establishing the following educational initiatives.
These initiatives are aimed to respond to the demand for world-class education. The initiatives have been developed to enhance education and provide curricula that enables the new generation to meet the work requirements of Dubai's fast growing economy.
