The idea of a Chamber of Commerce took root at in 1965, it was established by a decree. Late Sheikh Rashid was cognisant of the important role a Chamber of Commerce would play in Dubai's development and was eager to see it succeed. DCCI began with 450 members with its management assigned to a 12-member Board of Directors.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has been playing a crucial role in helping improve the business climate of Dubai. With a vision to be the recognized indispensable source of competitive advantage for the business community in Dubai, it's well on its way to achieving its mission of being their first choice for support and assistance in all their endeavors.
DCCI ensures all this by offering value-added services such as Data Management and Business Research, Mediation, State -of-the art Library, Arbitration, Trade Mission and Delegation, Trade fairs, Convention & Exhibition, Foreign Relations, Entrepreneurial Training, Commercial Services and Business Policies.
Mission of DCCI
The main objective of DCCI is to represent, protect and promote the interests of the business community in Dubai, providing value added services that create new business opportunities promote global competitiveness of Dubai based businesses, and actively influence government measures to improve the enabling business climate.
Long Term Objectives of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- Represent, defend and protect general and individual professional interests of members
- Be active and successful in voicing and influencing policies of interests to our members towards local, regional, and international public authorities
- Promote the investment environment in Dubai, by branding Dubai abroad as the economic hub of the Gulf Region
- Develop an infrastructure (platform) to promote business development in Dubai, and facilitate network opportunities and interaction of members with the local, regional, and international community
- Satisfy and enhance the needs of members, offer them value added services, and provide access to increasingly relevant information that complement what is already available in the market
- Build the right capabilities to serve effectively the business community
The many initiatives of DCCI contributing towards the progress of the business community are Dubai International Arbitration Centre, Dubai Ethics Resource Centre, Dubai University, Dubai Trade Point, Credit Rating Services, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards and Dubai The City That Cares, an annual campaign directed towards boosting the retail & trade sector and aiding the local & international charity organizations.
Board of Directors
Board of Directors are appointed by a decree issued by H.H., the ruler. Board of Directors consists maximum 26 members in Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Board of Directors manages and responsible for the Chamber's activities. Functions of Board of Directors include Planning Chamber's general policy, strategy, business, requirements, review laws and suggesting amendments, approving Chamber's annual budget and statements of accounts, approving memoranda of understanding and agreements of cooperation with other chambers, associations or bodies, appointing Director General and his Deputy, receiving trade delegations etc.
