Rashid Hospital

Dubai Hospital
Dubai Hospital is an integral part of the Health and Medical Services Department. It adopts the following key factors to fulfill the increasing demand for health and services with increasing population in Dubai. These key factors are as Patient Care, Education, Research and Community Services.
Al Wasl Hospital
Al Wasl hospital was established in 1987, and was given the name of ancient Dubai Al Wasl. Al Wasl Hospital is a secondary and tertiary Healthcare Institution specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Pediatrics Surgery.
Its mission is to maintain quality diagnostic, curative and preventive healthcare services.
It is the latest hospital in the Department of Health and Medical Services of Dubai Government. It is built and equipped to serve as a teaching hospital. Al Wasl Hospital serves as a referral hospital, especially for its highly sophisticated and equipped Special Baby Care Unit, Thalassemia center and the Pediatric Surgery Unit.
Blood Donation Center
Blood Donation Center is the Central Bank of the Health and Medical Services Department. It is the provider of blood and blood products for transfusion to the three main hospitals in the department. Blood is collected from the donors and the different blood components are prepared. Dispatch to hospital is then made. The center also helps out the private hospitals in Dubai whenever deemed necessary.

Thalassemia Center
The Center was opened on 13 May 1989 with 75 Thalassemia patients, as a subdivision of Pediatric Department of Al-Wasl hospital. Genetic & Thalassemia Center comprise of two clinical divisions the Thalassemia & Hemoglobinopathy section & the Clinical Genetics Section.
The Center has also achieved a significant leap in control of Thalassemia in the community. No new births with Thalassemia have been recorded among the enrolled UAE national families since 1998.
Thalassemia Center operates as a Day Care Center and has 28 beds. It works five days in a week from Saturday to Wednesday. There are two out-patients clinic days - Monday for expatriates & Wednesday for Locals. It also has a dedicated team of Doctors.
The Center has a large recreational area catering for the different age groups and an exhibition hall presenting entire patient's creative work. The Center actively coordinates and supports the Emirates Thalassemia Society in its various activities. These include health education for the patient population, awareness about Thalassemia through media to the general public and various activities in schools and colleges to spread awareness of Thalassemia in the community.
