Eid al Fitr is a significant celebrationeid in dubai observed worldwide. The word literally means, festival of breaking of the fast and also marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan each year. The festival completes the dawn to dusk fasting that is followed by those of Muslim faith around the world during the month of Ramadan. The festival is back this year with eagerly-awaited community events, fantastic shows, and attractive offers all across the city.

The dates are subject to change based on the phases of the moon and it is said to be Wednesday, July 6, that is the first day of Eid Al Fitr, as Tuesday is the last day of Ramadan, the UAE Moon Sighting Committee has announced, WAM has reported. The announcement was made after the committee conducted a meeting on Monday evening after Maghreb prayer at the Judiciary Department in Abu Dhabi. The committee, eid in dubaithat was headed by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, said that after a number of legitimate measures, as well as several contacts with neighbouring countries, it was established that Tuesday is the last day of Ramadan, and Wednesday is the first day of Shawwal, marking the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.

Al Badi and the committee members extended greetings to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates and Crown Princes, as well as the people of UAE and Muslims. Saudi media reports said July 5, Tuesday will be the last day of Ramadan. Eid holidays in UAE – Public sector holidays for Eid Al Fitr have been confirmed by the UAE government and will be from Friday, July 1 to Saturday, July 9 with work resuming on Sunday, July 10 (9 days). Private sector holidays for Eid Al Fitr have been confirmed by the UAE government and will be from Wednesday, July 6 to Saturday, July 9 with work resuming on Sunday, July 10 (4 days).
