Burj Al Arab’s new island North Deck
The North Deck is going to officially open for guests at the second quarter of 2016 and the magnificent structure, Burj Al Arab’s new island is being developed with the help of state-of-the-art environmental technology, design, manufacturing expertise and marine installation mastery.
Maintaining a crucial and delicate balance, which has never before been attempted before, this 10,000 square metres private luxury deck will spread approximately 100 metres out into the Arabian Gulf. It is said to accommodate 32 cabanas, 400 sun loungers, one fresh water pool measuring 612 square metres and one salt water pool measuring 828 square metres, one restaurant and a bar.
Adding yet another wonder, this North Deck will be featured as the most exclusive guest experience with minimal disruption. This unique and exceptional deck has been developed in six sections off-site in Finland by marine construction experts, ADMARES. The distinctive structure has been constructed in a measured cruise ship and yacht production facility which promises the highest standards in both construction and luxury finish.
North Deck is made from steel and weighing around 5,000 tonnes, this platform is presently being transported to Dubai by sea. Can be seen on arrival at the hotel, North Deck is scheduled for mid-February lift-off, where it will be lifted by crane and lowered onto a grid of 90 steel piles, 914 millimetres in diameter, facing north into the Arabian Gulf. The building and steel pile fitting process will cause negligible impact to the ocean environment compared to the consequence normally associated with a land reclamation approach. The environmentally-sound deck will also arrange for an artificial reef and shade for marine life.
This unique platform will stand next to an artificial island that is built to resemble the sail of a dhow ship, Dubai’s Burj Al Arab hotel which has become an emblem for the city ever-since it opened in late 1999.
Guests at the all-suite Burj al Arab hotel, part of the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts portfolio, have been given access to four swimming pools, a private beach and nine on-site restaurant and bars, and are served by 1,600 staff.
The launch of the deck will reassert Burj Al Arab’s status as one of the best hotels in the emirates, and all over the world.
