Emirate of Fujairah,
one of the seven emirates forming the United Arab Emirates, witnessed
a rapid rate of economic and social development and tourism activities
under the wise guidance of H.H.Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi,
Supreme Council member and ruler of Fujairah.
After the emirate had completed its infrastructure, it set out to
implement its ambitious development plan to achieve the ideal exploitation
of its resources and to extend the base of industrial, commercial,
and agricultural production.
The historical importance of Fujairah goes back to the period that
preceded birth of the christ (peace be upon him), it was known in
the old ages as land of the sea giants, and was the first home for
immigrants who came from the southeast of Arabian Peninsula and
who were later known as the Phoenicians. Some of those immigrants
came from Yemen after the collapse of Ma'areb Dam, and of whom the
Sharqis tribes descend.
Emirate of Fujairah lies on the eastern part of the arabian peninsula,
bordered from the east by Omani coast, from the west by emirates
of Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah,
from the south Kalba and it faces Omani coast. Fujairah extends
70 km. on the Gulf of Oman from Ousla village to Dibba to the north.
Total aria of Fujairah is 1450 sq.km., made of varying heights mountains
and hills, plains, cast, oasis and desert areas.
The climate in Fujairah is semi tropical with varying temperature,
rare rain, high level of evaporation and varying degree of humidity.
Last census showed that total population of Fujairah was 100,000.
Main cities are Al Fujairah, Dibba, Mirbeh, Al Bidiah and Masafi.

Fujairah is one of the most attractive
tourist and travel destination in the region, and has a lot of Attractions
and activities to offer.
For the historian, Fujairah is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered
The old fort in Fujairah's historic town which is approximately
300 years old and the many small wind towers still standing in neighbouring
villages as proud reminders of the town's recent past. However,
archaeological steps have shown that man's presence in the region
actually dates back to the Iron Age. In fact, some of -the most
important archaeological finds in the Arabian Gulf have been made
in the area.
Fujairah Fort

Situated just two km away from the main
town. It is a strategically located mud brick structure. A huge
castle built in 1670 A.D. which consists of 3 major parts and several
halls and towers surrounded by the old Fujairah.
The fort was fully renovated in year 2000.
Al Bidya Mosque
Dates back 400 years and displays a unique feat of engineering for
the time. All four domes are supported by one central pillar and
internal decoration combines stone carvings with special shelves
to house the Holy Quran.
Al Bidya Mosque is located close to Al Bidya village about 30 km
North of Fujairah.
Al Heil Castle
At Al Heil village,
8km south-west of Fujairah city.
One of the most famous castles in the Emirate of Fujairah, it used
to be headquarters for the ruler and had been used for patrolling,
surveillanc and to defend neibouring area.
AL Bithnah Forte
Built in 1735 near Al Bithnah Village
13 km west of Fujairah city, it has guarded the strategic route
across the Hajar mountains throught Wadi Ham since the 18th Century,
and was considered among the most important forts and castles in
eastern part of UAE.
Archeological Sites
Some of the most important archeological
finds in the Arabian Gulf have made in the area, and archeological
excavations have shown that man's presence in the region actually
dates back to the Iron Age.
Fujairah's unspoiled natural beauty and have all nice faces of rich
and beautiful nature: mountains, waterfalls, oases and long beaches
and more than 30 large valleys in addition to several smaller ones.
It is also the land of water springs, cold and warm.
Ain Madhab Park: A 50 hectare park
and resort for families, is a popular park in Fujairah, looks like
a green carpet with the grass and many kinds of trees and flowers
planted.
Ain Al Ghamour: Over 20 km south of Fujairah, in a mountains area,
the spring water temperature reaches 60 centigrade, and it is visited
by tourists and cure seekers from diseases like rheumatism, backache
and arthritis. 
Wadi Ham - The largest and longest valley, springs from
Masafi area and travel 30 km to the dam.
Wadi Zikt -
Located in Dhadnah area 8 km off the coast. Wadi Zikt dam is one
of the largest in Fujairah.
Wadi Al Wurayah
- Major tourist ATTRACTIONS for its lovely scenery, 42 km to the
north of Fujairah.
Al Wurayah Waterfalls
- In Wadi Al Wurayah. The beauty of water falls in the midst of
lovely scenery.
Wadi Al Tawian
- Some 45 km off the city of Fujairah, can be reachd throught rough
mountain routs.
Wadi Siji -
About 49km north of Fujairah, springs from Masafi and travel to
Al Zaid and Umm Al Quwain.
Wadi Dlm Waterfalls
- Beautiful waterfalls in Wadi Dlm, one of the subsidiaries forming
Wadi Siji.
Masafi Waterfalls -
This waterfalls is coming from one of the springs in Masafi to Wadi
Siji.
Wadi Al Hail-
Famous Wadi in Fujairah, Springs from Al Hail and travel 15 km in
the south west of the Emirate. |
